Trans Day of Remembrance: The Temple of Remembrance
November 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is a day dedicated to honoring the lives of transgender and non-binary individuals who have lost their lives to violence and prejudice. This year, TransJoy Boise will bring our community together for a powerful evening of unity, healing, and transformation. Through reflection, remembrance, and support, we’ll create a space to honor those we’ve lost, recognize the struggles our community faces, and find strength in each other.
This event is open to everyone! While TDOR is especially meaningful to our trans and non-binary family, allies and community members are encouraged to join. Together, we can stand in solidarity, offering support and compassion for one another.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Leading Up to TDOR: In the week leading up to the event, the temple will be open to the public. Community members are invited to come by to post photos, poems, or meaningful items on the structure. There will also be a special wooden box available for letters that will be burned during the ceremony. We encourage people to write letters to loved ones they’ve lost, to their former selves, or any thoughts they wish to release in this act of remembrance.
Attend the Event: The evening begins at 6:30 PM and will feature speakers, a ceremony, a mesmerizing fire performance, and the powerful Temple Burn at 8:00 PM, where we’ll release and honor our past in a transformative act of healing.
Bring a Friend: Community is the heart of this event. Please feel free to bring friends, family members, and allies to join in this powerful experience.
Event Schedule:
6:30 PM – Speakers
6:45 PM – Ceremony
7:00 PM – Safety Perimeter
7:30 PM – Deconstruction & Fire Performance
8:00 PM – Temple Burn
In times when fear and challenges are especially heavy, coming together is a way to find hope, healing, and strength. This Trans Day of Remembrance is about honoring our past, celebrating our resilience, and creating a space where we can feel seen, supported, and empowered. Let’s stand together to remember, to reflect, and to lift each other up. We invite you to join us for this meaningful night – all are welcome.
