Underground Cinema Night with Art Haus Forest
November 23 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Art Haus Forest is a collective of queer art house film enthusiasts looking to elevate the spotlight on underground cinema. Film screenings will be free to the public and focused on a theme each season. Our first season will be focused on new queer voices in arthouse film. In today’s dangerous political climate, art focused on under represented communities is more important than ever and it’s our goal to share this groundbreaking cinema with more of the world. Films in our first season will include: I Saw the TV Glow, The People’s Joker, Janet Planet, and Mutt.”
This month’s movie is “Janet Planet”: Following the 11-year-old child Lacy as she navigates life in Massachusetts, first time filmmaker Annie Baker crafts a deeply moving story about growing up and processing feelings of queerness at an early age. While more subtly queer in its themes, Baker nails the experience of being a queer kid in a way few films achieve.
