DEIB Statement

In 2025, The Community Center is committing to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) within our organization and community by fostering an environment that prioritizes this philosophy. Regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, race, ability, socio-economic status, nationality, appearance, and ethnicity; we move forward as a center where everyone and anyone can thrive. We acknowledge that the LGBTQIA+ community and DEIB have an intersectional relationship and this requires an ongoing, active commitment.

This commitment will entail providing an annual allyship training to the Treasure Valley LGBTQIA+ community, including TCC members, volunteers, and participants who would like to attend. Our goal is to ensure that The Community Center uplifts psychological safety, availability, and meaningfulness within our spaces. The Community Center will reference the intersectional wheel of privilege as a resource and educational opportunity. The Community Center will annually review and update the DEIB statement, ensuring it aligns with and reflects the empowerment of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Diversity

We embrace and welcome a continually diverse Treasure Valley. We acknowledge that privilege and fragility can be barriers to diversity, and we commit to creating spaces that foster curiosity, openness, and safety for all experiences. We welcome individuals of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds. We recognize that our organization thrives and derives strength from collective empathy.

Equity

We are dedicated to eliminating systemic barriers that perpetuate biases within our society, by advocating for policies and creating accessible resources. We commit to addressing the continued disparities within the LGBTQIA+ community. We acknowledge that equity is not the same as equality (an understanding that is key to promoting fairness within intersectional, marginalized groups).

Inclusion

We create and foster spaces where everyone feels psychologically safe, respected, valued, and supported. By building an environment of inclusion, we lead with curiosity and avoid making assumptions. We dive into collaboration, understanding, and partnership to break down stigma and discrimination within our spaces to ensure all LGBTQIA+ individuals have a seat at the table.

Belonging

We strive to create a sense of belonging for all, where folks can thrive in our spaces. We commit to this by acknowledging that while intent versus impact are not always aligned, we will provide proper feedback loops to keep our spaces accountable.

The Community Center, together with the Treasure Valley LGBTQIA+ community, will work to create a world where DEIB is not just a statement, but an action; an ongoing commitment, not just a one-time training; a continued promise, not just an acronym. We work collaboratively to see that diversity is celebrated, equity is realized, inclusion is required, and belonging is felt for years to come at our center.
